Launch window open for flights 1000h - 1800h

Launch briefing 15 minutes before the launch window opens at launch control. If you are not able to arrive by this time please find someone from the Ulster Rocketry team who will be able to pass on the required information.

Launch control is located at ///expires.collision.violinist with pads in the area around. This allows for all motor sizes and altitudes up to 8000m/26000ft. With adequate warning, launches can be arranged to altitudes above 20km, but this requires several months' notice.

Facilities

Car parking: Due to the extremely rough nature of the lane to the launch site, it is recommended to leave cars in the available parking at the entrance to the mountain ///interests.chopper.blank. Assistance will be made available if required to carry launch infrastructure/rockets to the pad. Ulster Rocketry does not accept any responsibility for your vehicle when on the site.

Toilets: There are no available toilets on site and the closest toilets are located in Cushendall, a short drive away. Please plan accordingly!

Launch rails: We have a number of launch rails available, including unsupported 3030 rails and some launch towers sizes. However, due to the limited number of high altitude launch slots it would be recommended to get in touch if you are not planning to bring your own launch rail to confirm availability.

If bringing your own launch rail, please ensure that it follows the necessary fire prevention guidelines (see below).

Fire Safety

We strongly recommend that teams bring and carry some method of fire prevention through the day and particularly when going to recover launch vehicles.

HOWEVER, IT IS NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIGHT ANY FIRES OBSERVED. YOU MUST REPORT THESE TO THE LAUNCH DIRECTOR IMMEDIATELY.

Timely intervention can help, but be extremely cautious. Wildfires are not normal fires and do not treat them as such.

In the event of discovering any fire which is larger than 20cm by 20cm OR any spreading fire please immediately call the fire brigade as well as notifying the launch team.

It is essential that we do not act in a way that is likely to cause a fire.

• No smoking
• No campfires/cooking fires
• Do not use wadding/other disposable flame prevention for rockets: Nomex chute protectors should be used.
• Do not use heat sources (i.e. soldering irons) at the launch area. These may be used at the car park on the concrete area.
• Ensure that launch pads have a protective non-flammable layer between the motor and the ground e.g. a blast deflector. This must be sufficiently large to ensure that flame does not at any point reach the ground. For example - a 1m x 1m metal sheet

First Aid

Everyone is ultimately responsible for their own safety, and we recommend that people come prepared.

A very basic first aid kit will be available at launch control: please do get in touch if this is required.

Mountain Safety

Please ensure that you are prepared for the potential weather conditions that may develop, particularly when recovering rockets.

Ensure you move in groups of at least 2. All people in the group must have waterproof body cover and durable footwear is strongly recommended.

In addition, a group must have:

• A first aid kit
• A compass
• Some form of map (ideally physical, but offline phone maps will be accepted)
• Whistle and Torch available to attract attention
• Water

Motor Handling

Motors should only be loaded into the rockets once other parts are ready for flight.

Ignitors should NEVER be inserted into motors before the rocket is assembled on the pad.

If using electronics, please ensure there is a safety mechanism that prohibits the charges firing before the pad i.e. internal arm switches, electronics isolated till vertical or a screw switch between the charge and computer.

Watching the launches

Due to the nature of the site we would encourage that only the registered flyers, those directly helping and launch staff come to the main launch point.

However, there is a road approximately 2km away that gives an excellent view of the site and where a number of people will gather. This is located at ///lawns.care.harshest

Please make sure to park safely and ensure a clear path is left for other traffic on the road.

Final Comments

Please make sure we respect the land and tidy up after ourselves so that this opportunity can continue.
